How to Set Powerful Goals that Inspire You to Go Beyond the Ordinary

You've been following these lessons and have perhaps been touched by the Law of Attraction.

In Lesson 1 you learned about your latent inner power.

In Lesson 2, we discussed the Law of Attraction.

In Lesson 3, you learned how to master your thoughts.

In this lesson, you'll learn how to go further. You see, we each possess in us remarkable reserves of power -- just waiting to be tapped and properly channeled. And yet most of us lead quiet, ordinary lives.

Imagine for a moment, if Superman used his powers to do nothing more than save kittens stuck in trees. What a waste of potential! We laugh at an image like that.

But what we fail to realize is that most people, even if they do believe in the Law of Attraction, completely fail to live up to their full potential. Believing in the Law does not mean you're really using it.

In this lesson - we're going to EXPAND your mind to recognize and embrace your TRUE potential.

How to Have a Life Beyond the Ordinary
Since we were kids, we've been conditioned to see ourselves as having limits.

Children are born free of mental baggage. They see themselves as capable of doing and being anything they choose. That's why as kids we dream of being astronauts or explorers or movie-stars. But as we get older - our minds get shackled. We slowly give up our dreams to fear, worry or feelings of lacking.

This is a big mistake. You see, it's as easy to manifest a million dollars as it is to manifest one dollar. It may take a little longer - but it's just as easy. But due to negative feelings and fears - few of us attempt such big dreams.

Instead, we settle for the ordinary and as a result fall into the current reality trap.

How many dreams have you given up on?

Here's a list of big goals that people often put off.

writing that book
starting that business
learning that language
having that baby
visiting that country
getting that degree
attending that seminar
starting that Internet business
Vow to stop putting down your dreams!

Regardless of what may be going on in your life, I’d suggest that you take the time to build a very clear image of the life you want. Then, hold that image – focus on it daily. Take the time to paint the image in your mind – paint the image with words on a sheet of paper first. Write it again and again, and when you do, mix it up a little. Picture yourself in different scenarios enjoying this result in your life.

I want you do to this at least once each day for a full month. As William James says, “You are depositing this image in the treasury of your subconscious mind. And when that happens … it will attract itself into your reality".

The first step to this of course, is deciding what this image is.

The First Step, Deciding What You Want
The Mind is Like a Drunken Monkey, Forever Jumping Around, Never Staying Steady

The world and everything and everyone in it has a tendency to keep its conscious attention jumping from one idea or activity to another. The average individual has an ARRAY of unrelated subjects laying across the screen of his mind … the likes of which you’d have difficulty finding anywhere else outside of a common encyclopedia! There is no focus, no direction, and no stimulated, controlled thinking going on at all.


As Wallace Wattles mentions in this chapter, “You can never get rich or start the creative power into action by sending out unformed longings and vague desires.”

What Wallace is saying is this: Many of us are not sure what we want and so we get nowhere.

Here's the problem:

Let's say you decide you want to open a specific business, say a particular Internet home business. You've been dreaming about it - thinking about it - feeling the excitement at the prospect of being able to run your own profitable website.

Now of course as you're experiencing these feelings and thinking about it, the Law of Attraction starts going into action and things begin to happen to bring you towards this dream.

But then you have a friend approach you with a different business idea, say to open a restaurant. You suddenly get excited at this prospect. You now start to question the Internet Business idea.

Of course, as you're doing this, you continue using the Law of Attraction. But in the opposite way. The internet business that was coming your way...now gets pushed away. A whole new reality is being created - now a reality of you as a restaurant owner.

But it does not stop there. A few weeks later, your friend may decide that he no longer wants to go into that venture with you. Now you're back to square one. Two businesses were on their way into your reality - but your indecision had pushed them back.

Every time you dream of a new goal - you plant a little seed in the Universe. Focusing and thinking of the goal is like watering that seed. As you apply more thought to the goal - shoots finally begin to sprout and push out of the ground.

But way to often - it's at this point that we suddenly change our minds. And when we do that we push the shoots back into the ground. No beautiful plant takes shape. And in terms of our goals - we move back to square one.

To overcome indecision - think carefully about what you want. And stick to it as long as your feelings about it stay positive.

The Second Step, Think BIG
Remember, the Law of Attraction implies that anything is within your field of possibility if you desire it strongly, believe in it, and take action towards it.

If you had a genie ready to grant your wishes, would you ask for something small? Say a chocolate milkshake?

No. You'd be nuts. You'd be asking for bigger things. A business, a soul-mate, glorious health, glorious wealth.

The Law of Attraction is like a genie. So don't squander your potential on small things.

Now here's why it's important to think big. There is so much that can be improved in the world. There is much you can contribute.

But you cannot do this by being mediocre.

Jose Silva, the founder of Silva Method studied the Law of Attraction for many years and one of the things he found was that the Law of Attraction works best for you and you can ask for something that will not just benefit you, but others too.

Setting a goal of getting a $1000 raise is a small goal. There's not much you can do to benefit the world with that extra $1000 per month. But setting a goal to run your own business and earn $50,000 a month is a good goal. With that money you can not only create a good life for your family, but also donate money to your favorite charities or fund neighborhood projects.

You owe it not just to yourself - but to the world - to THINK BIG.

So how do you tell if your goal is big enough?

Joe Vitale, one of the teachers from the Secret has a wonderful quote.

A good goal should SCARE you a little.
And EXCITE you A LOT!

That simple quote sums up some really important lessons.

If the goal doesn't excite you, well you're not going to attract it. Remember what we learned in lesson 2.


Goals that EXCITE you are the type that let you pour your heart and soul into them. The bigger the goals - the more excited about it you can get.

Now let's look at the second part of that quote. "Scare you a little."

If you don't feel a tiny bit nervous about the goal - odds are you're THINKING TOO SMALL.

Apply this principle to your goals. Do they excite you? Do they scare you a little?

Those that do are probably the right ones.

Step Three, Share Your Goals with the People Who Matter
Does your business partner share your vision and goals for your business?

Do your spouse and kids share your goal of moving out of the city?

It's important to share your goals with people who matter. Especially people whose lives will be greatly influenced by you attaining these goals.

The Law of Attraction applies to all of us - all of the time and helps shape our reality - but it also shapes the reality of those closest to us.

If your spouse dreams of moving into a country house while you dream of moving into a city apartment, your goals are not aligned. You may cancel each other out, be greatly unhappy or for better or worse - both of you may get what you desire - but minus each other. The same applies to businesses - are your partners and employees sharing your vision?

There are certain goals you may want to keep private though. Perhaps a crazy idea you're not yet ready to share. These are often called Pocket Goals. It's okay to keep these private and hidden.

We all influence each other in profound ways. We can help one another attain a goal when we're aligned. But we can also create barriers for one another when our goals pull us in different directions.

Why You Can't Win the Lottery
This helps us answer a common question. If the Law of Attraction is so Powerful why can't I use it to win the Lottery?

You cannot use it to win the lottery simply because while you may be dreaming of this - millions of others who bought tickets are also trying to attract this. All of you cancel out each others intentions!

Setting a goal to win the lottery is a lousy goal - the lottery winnings are limited. But setting a goal to earn money through honest means is not. Abundance is unlimited.

Spread the Message
As we all influence each other, it is important to share our goals with people who matter. If your family members and business associates are aware of the Law of Attraction. Their success will only help reinforce your own.

This is perhaps why The Secret DVD spread so rapidly to millions around the world. A lot of people brushed it off to good marketing. I don't believe this. I think it spread because people realized that this knowledge would greatly improve the lives of their loved ones - and thus, impact their own lives and dreams.

An Unexpected $36,000 — Already!

Just a few short weeks ago, Mike began to put his big plans for the year into action. Like so many of us, he and his wife had decided that now that their daughter was grown, they wanted to work less and enjoy life more — to travel, spend time with friends and family, and just generally enjoy their home on the lovely east coast of New Zealand.
Now you only have to look around to see that WANTING that kind of freedom is where many people begin and END the process! (And — ouch — sometimes we only have to look in the mirror for a good example, right?)
But for Mike, this was just the beginning. He'd recently read a small forgotten classic from 1910 entitled, The Science of Getting Rich, and something in it just "clicked" for him. Sure, he'd also read plenty of "self-help" books before. But, as he put it, "without taking them onboard."
This time, though, something was different. This time Mike decided to go for it, to apply the principles he was learning from that little book as he set about changing his life.
Back in 1987 Mike had started an electrical company and it did very well. And he and his wife also own and operate another full-time business, too. To start this year, Mike closed down his business to concentrate on a new interest, property investing, while his wife retired from running the other business, opting to handle just a bit of the administrative work on a part-time basis.
As you might expect, they originally figured this would mean some belt-tightening while Mike got his new venture going — a perhaps substantial temporary loss of income. But rather than focus on that, Mike decided to follow the instructions in The Science of Getting Rich and focus on his clear mental image of the life he wanted and to begin to take action in that direction. He also opted to participate in a course called "The Science of Getting Rich for Practical Geniuses™."
Here's what Mike reported just a little halfway through the course:
$36,000 in unexpected income has arrived!
You see, over the years Mike has developed several products and not long ago he came up with one that seemed very promising — a quality management logging system for welding pipes, including the electronic device that runs the system.
But this side of the business somehow didn't work out quite as he'd expected, so when his main client went out of business, Mike just put the product on the shelf in the garage and forgot about it. And there it sat, abandoned, for more than a year and a half.
Then, suddenly, a company which had bought several of his devices in the past showed up wanting that almost-forgotten product! Seems they'd been trying to develop a similar one on their own but had become bogged down in major difficulties. They offered Mike a good price for his brain-child and he was all set to agree.
But there was a hitch.
Two deal-killer clauses glared out of the contract — and the would-be buyer's lawyer wasn't budging.
"Never allow yourself to be disappointed," says Wallace Wattles, author of The Science of Getting Rich. So here's what Mike did.
"I tried to think of and see the deal with a positive outcome rather than see the problems in our way. I also knew the contract wouldn't work for me with those two clauses in it, so I let go of any attachment to the outcome and rang the person I'd been dealing with directly, instead of talking to the lawyer. I told him what I wanted, and I really was happy for the deal not to go ahead otherwise."
Result?
"We got our money last week. The amount will cover our basic living expenses while I start our new venture and it'll also take care of the cut in my wife's income."
And Mike did MORE. Understanding Mr. Wattles' admonition that "you must give every man more in use value than he gives you in cash value," Mike made the point of adding extra to what the buyer got.
"I spent days creating instruction manuals and also came across extra product when I did my final clean-out which I happily passed on to them at no extra cost. It ended up a good deal for all."
Good for you, Mike! And thanks for the excellent example of what Mr. Wattles writes about:
"It is not your part to guide or supervise the creative process. All you have to do with that is to retain your vision, stick to your purpose, and maintain your faith and gratitude.
"But you must act in a certain way, so that you can appropriate what is yours when it comes to you and so that you can meet the things you have in your picture and put them in their proper places as they arrive.
"You can really see the truth of this. When things reach you, they will be in the hands of others, who will ask an equivalent for them. And you can only get what is yours by giving the other person what is rightfully his ...
"Under the impelling power of the supreme spirit, people’s affairs will be so ordered that someone will be led to mine the gold for you. Other people’s business transactions will be so directed that the gold will be brought toward you. And you must so arrange your own business affairs that you may be able to receive it when it comes to you.
"Your thought makes all things, animate and inanimate, work to bring you what you want, but your personal activity must be such that you can rightly receive what you want when it reaches you."
Do you see, my friend, how all this is EXACTLY what Mike is and has been doing?
He is ...
Retaining his vision,
Sticking to his purpose,
Maintaining his faith and gratitude,
Acting in "the certain way" so that he is "able to receive."
Now lest you think that Mike has some kind of superhuman powers of concentration and focus, listen up to what he says here:
"I use the science of getting rich when I remember. Some days I work on it and others I get busy and forget. So I think results can come even when you start and only have 'average daily attendance.' I have, though, always been grateful ... It is great to have a system that gratitude is a part of."
None of us is yet perfect in thought and action, of course, and as Mr. Wattles tells us, it takes work and commitment to direct our attention and thinking. In short, like everything else worth doing, it takes practice to get good at it.
Most of us are just beginning to use these long-neglected "muscles" and what matters now is that we just start and continue to NOTICE our thinking when it goes off-track and to — without blame, shame, or guilt — direct our remarkable power of thought in the way we CHOOSE, rather than just flipping into an automatic, conditioned response — which is, when you get right down to it, the exact OPPOSITE of thinking in the certain way (or thinking at all!).
And I promise you that it does get easier and completely natural with time and practice! ;-)
So how might YOU follow Mike's lead with whatever it is you want to create, experience, or attract to yourself? Take the time to understand these principles and apply them to your own life. "Study this book. Make it your constant companion," as Mr. Wattles advises. Study it on your own. Study it with like-minded friends. And "take it onboard," as Mike is doing.
You, too, will feel the excitement as what you want begins to show up in gloriously expected and UNexpected ways!
Oh, yes — one more thing. You may have noted that Mike's forgotten product netted him $35,000 and the title of this story says "$36,000." Here's the rest (so far!):
"We have five mature avocado trees on our property that for the first time we got a commercial picker to pick." Mike had thought the fruit would be worth about $200 after picking costs. "A cheque arrived yesterday for $850."
"Also our Inland Revenue Department [the tax agency similar to the Internal Revenue Service here in the US] sent me a $200 refund last week for an error they made last year."
A few months ago, right before the course started, Mike said. "With The Science of Getting Rich, this year is going to be great." Now he grins and says, "Quite a couple of weeks, I think you would agree. I wonder what next week will hold!"
What indeed. You go, guy!

Habit

Some time ago I did a show on habits. They play an important role in your life. Like many aspects of your life, habits can be considered both a blessing and a curse. Robert Russell in his magnificent little book "You Try It" wrote that habit was God's way of making good automatic in your life I had a wonderful friend in Atlanta, the late Dr. Jay Dishman, who wrote an excellent article about habit in his monthly newsletter dated February 1985. I have shared Dr. Dishman's article with thousands of people around the world. Today I want to share it with you. Bob Proctor


"Recently I visited Alcatraz prison. Once it housed the most hardened of criminals. Today it is open to tourists under the direction of the United States Parks Department. Many men have tried to escape Alcatraz, no one is known to have succeeded. As I listened to the tour guide explain the impossibility of escape, I thought of other prisons equally confining but where the doors are never locked, no guards walk the halls, and escape is encouraged and possible. That prison is habit."
Our habit of thinking about ourselves and our environment as a jail or a paradise. We need but to look around us to see people who are rich emotionally and materially because they think and feel rich. We also see people who are laden with emotional and material debt because they think lack. Some are inspired with vision, others are encumbered with doubt. Some are moved by ambition, others feel safer in monotony. Some reach for the mountain tops, others huddle in the pits. Some seek opportunity, others wait for it to knock. The sad fact is that more people are confined by their thoughts than are fed by them.
Negative thinking shuts us in a prison, but there is a way out. The apostle Paul said, "Be transformed by the renewal of your mind." Paul knew a lot about prisons, both physical and mental. You renew your life by renewing your mind. You renew your mind when you change your habit of thinking.

The enigmatic Deepak Chopra once asked, “Where would you begin to solve a mystery that is everywhere, yet somehow never forms a whole message?”
The heavy weight champ of metaphysical movie documentaries, The Secret, has been almost single-handedly responsible for causing a mass-movement in what we like to call “inner world sleuthing.” It, for better or worse, has started to bring out the Sherlock Holmes of Spirituality from once uninterested individuals.
People, everywhere, more than ever, are now openly fascinated with life’s hidden dimensions. What once was thought of as a closed door, off-color form of self growth is now the cat’s meow. Where two forms of research once battled each other for supremacy, polls now show that over 75% agree that science and spirituality are two sides of the same coin.
The mindset is now: “How could we label something as true or valid without looking at or questioning what quantum-psychology and quantum physics is saying too?”
It’s common knowledge that our world has come to be understood through our physical senses. We’ve come to expect that the world-renowned scientists and doctors who find “proof” for theories and cures for diseases do so in a left-brain dominant way. The left brain is linear, rational, analytical, and linguistic. And, by golly, it won’t rest until it has figured out a way to make everything in life fit within the realm of the “completely knowable.”
But, who does the world-at-large lean on when something say, er, “semi-unexplainable” comes to existence in a BIG way?

I get it! It all makes sense. If we could all stay in the moment, we’d all be less involved with the negative influences people fear. They are an illusion of what could be, but never the reality of what is!

http://www.certifiedstressfree.com/Wow so well said! Not only do we have to stay in the moment but we have to ACT on our beliefs and intentions. So many people just want to sit back and enjoy the benefits without doing any of the work. The power of intentions gives us creative solutions- being stuck on our past mentality prevents us from living in the presesnt. Physical emotional and chemical stressors inhibit us from achieving our full potential. It is time to break down the stressors so that we can not only live in the moment but be happy above and beyond to LIVE RIGHT NOW!

How to Control You Thoughts

2 Life Changing Techniques to Gain Mastery Over Your Thoughts
Your thoughts are your most powerful asset! You and everything you experience in life are the direct result of your thoughts. The ability to control your thoughts will allow you to choose what experiences, people and the events you attract into your life.
In this lesson we'll explain exactly How to Control Your Thoughts.
Now, you may think this is going to be hard...after all, you think thousands of thoughts every single day. How would you monitor them all?
Fortunately, there is a shortcut...
We're going to teach you two techniques you can use to attain mastery over the thousands of thoughts streaming through your head each and every day.
The key to controlling your thoughts is to simply observe the emotions that come from the thought.
Understanding Emotions
All the emotions we feel, be it love, excitement, sorrow, fear, happiness, peace, anger, jealousy or joy - can fall into two categories.

Your feelings about something tell you very quickly whether you should or should not bring that thing into your life.
When you understand the Law of Attraction, you'll learn to become aware of the way you feel and to pay attention to these feelings because they're your soul's guidance system, and will to help you hone in on things that are truly right for you.
Here's an example:
As a kid you may have played a game called hot or cold. You would close your eyes and count to ten. A friend would hide something, say a toy, under a mattress or behind some books. When you're done counting and open your eyes, you now have to attempt to find the hidden toy.
Every time you move towards the location of the toy your friend would shout "WARM". If you moved away from the toy your friend would shout "COOLER". As you start to move towards the toy your friend would say "You're getting WARMER, WARMER..." And as you pinpoint the mattress and discover the toy, he'd shout "HOT - You found it!"
Well let me share something with you.
The Universe is your friend.
And the Universe plays this game with you EVERY single day.
But rather than say HOT or COLD, the Universe guides you with feelings. Positive feelings mean you're moving towards something good for you. Negative feelings mean you're headed in the wrong direction.
You may wake up one morning feeling negative about your job. The repetitive work is boring you, you feel underappreciated, you just don't feel you're doing something you love. The negative feelings are a sign from the Universe that you need to change direction immediately. Changing direction does not mean quitting your job this instant - but it does mean you need to do something to fix your present situation.
You might feel the same way about your marriage, your career, your body, your home - the negative feelings are alarm bells going off. The Universe is saying "Warning , You're thinking thoughts that are not the reality you wish to face. Keep thinking them and you'll only increase the likelihood of these situations coming to you. You need to find a way to change your thoughts FAST!".
Your Emotions are therefore, a warning system from your Soul. Pay attention to them, so that you'll only attract into your reality things that are good for you.
The Power of Gratitude
The first technique for thought control is simply called Expressing Gratitude
People who let the Law of Attraction work for them are a certain breed of people. You'll recognize them when you meet them.
They are often positive, joyful, in awe of the world, and full of love and compassion.
Sure, they sometimes face bad moments - feelings of despair, grief or sorrow, but they bounce back quickly. They seem to relish life itself.
A simple way to help you move into this state of joy and positive vibes is to start thinking about what you have to be thankful for.
And believe me, you have a LOT to be thankful for.
You may look at your 2-bedroom apartment, cheap car and 15" inch TV and compare yourself to wealthy people living today and feel that you have barely made it.
But think about this - you are richer than the richest people in the world living just 200 years ago. They did not have a "horseless carriage" that could carry them wherever they wanted to go. They could not use a phone to instantly communicate with anyone - anywhere in the world. They did not have a "magic story-telling box", what we would call a TV - to entertain them. 200 years ago, the amount of information that the average wealthy person could consume in a lifetime, would be no match for the amount you can consume in ONE DAY through the Internet.
You may have an average income - but you would not want to trade places with a "rich" man living just 200 years ago. You have much to be grateful for!
So to get the Law of Attraction working for you, express gratitude for what you have. Because here's the BIG secret - when you express gratitude for what you have - you allow the Universe to give you more.
Wallace Wattles hit the nail on its head when he said, "People who order their lives rightly in all areas are kept in poverty because of their lack of gratitude. Having received one gift from God, they cut the ties that connect them to God by failing to make acknowledgement."

Now here's an important thing...
The acknowledgment does not serve to boost the ego of some insecure Universal Consciousness or God. The Universe does not CARE if you're grateful or not.
Why this works is because when you express gratitude for what you have, you put YOURSELF in a frame of mind - one that's of joy and expectancy. Because you now focus on what you HAVE rather than what you DON'T HAVE, the energy you're sending out is I HAVE A LOT.
And in return the Law of Attraction has to reciprocate by giving you A LOT MORE.
Without gratitude, the energy you put out is I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH - and so, by the Law of Attraction, you'll keeping losing more and more until you don't have enough.
Jack Canfield explains how he uses the Power of Gratitude in his life...

AS I explained in the movie, The Secret, I am always grateful for all that I have in my life – I have a magnificent home … I have a tremendous wife …I love spending time with my family. And, I absolutely love what I do in my business every day. I HAVE the best … and, much to my surprise … it just keeps getting better anyway!
But the point is this – I was grateful when I had no home, no wife, no family and no business. You see, it doesn't matter where you are in life. There's a reason right NOW to express gratitude.
So do it. Get in the habit of it. Write your gratitude list every night, or say it out loud in the shower every morning. You'll notice in just a matter of days how long that list begins to grow – and what a change in attitude it creates for you … and that's where attraction finds its way to you.
How to Express Gratitude
It's really easy. Just decide to spend a few minutes each day to practice being thankful for what you have.
You could do it during:
Your morning commute
While in the shower
Just before going to bed at night.
In the morning, as soon as you wake up.
Some sample statements of gratitude you can use:
I'm so grateful for my body. It's treated me so well over the years and is aging gracefully. I'm happy with the way I look.
I'm grateful for having such an incredible family, for a spouse that loves me and for kids that are simply wonderful.
I'm grateful for being born me - for my house, car, family, health and the feeling of joy with which I pursue each and every day.
I'm so grateful now that I am earning _________ per month. I have a job I love, a career that I'm good at and I can afford anything I want for myself or my family.
I'm so happy and grateful now that money comes to me, in ever increasing quantities, through multiple sources of income, on a continuous basis.

But what if something particularly bad happens - an accident or sudden illness?
What do you do then?
The solution is a technique called Energy Redirection
The Energy Redirection Technique
We've already explained how your thoughts are energy. And that which you focus on, you attract.
The danger is that bad things do sometimes happen - accidents, illnesses, bad breakups, being laid off work. When this happens and you dwell on the sudden bad situation - you just create negative energy that amplifies the bad situation and keeps you locked in it for longer.
Fortunately, there is a powerful technique you can use to pull yourself out of bad situations. It's called the Energy Redirection Technique and is used by an 80 year-old meditation expert and energy healer in California called Burt Goldman. Burt learned the technique while studying with spiritual leaders and healers from around the world.
Often, a metaphor can show the way. So we'll let Burt tell you a story of an incident that would normally cause a great degree of stress in most people and how he applied the Energy Redirection Technique to this incident.
The Story of the Dented Fender


The incident took place during a class I was presenting. I was heading out to lunch at a nearby restaurant with 3 of my students, and offered to drive. As we approached my new car, we saw a big dent in the right front fender.
Someone had slammed into it while it was parked, and had driven off without even leaving a note on the windshield.The three students looked at me and waited for the blowup.
When I first saw that dented fender, my mind flew off into all kinds of directions. For a moment I could feel irritation and my body tightening with anger, and I knew immediately I had to redirect that negative mental activity at once. I used the Energy Redirection Technique and focused on finding a way to change the negative thoughts into positive action.
Jumping into the car I said to the three, "Let's go. There's a body and fender shop just down the street."
"You going to get it fixed right now?" One of the students asked.
"Nope." I answered, "What I'm going to do is to get a price on what it costs to repair the dent, and whatever that price turns out to be, I'm going to create something that I'm not doing right now, and I'm going to make three times the cost of the dent."
We drove to a nearby shop and I was told that the cost of repairing the fender would be $450.00. I immediately tripled the figure and thought, "$1,350, I've got to earn $1,350.00 with something new."
Now whenever I looked at the dent in my fender I didn't mentally start cursing the low life who dented it and ran off. No, not at all. Now when I looked at the dent I thought, "$1,350.00, I've got to earn $1,350.00."
I kept thinking of how I could make that amount of money. It had to be something that I was not doing at that time. I put on my Creative Hat and thought about it, and finally came up with the answer.
I would create a brand new seminar for my friends and if they liked it I would send out a mailing to all the people who had been through my classes, and would set a goal of making $1,350.00 from it!
And so I put the seminar together and did it for free-of-charge for fifteen friends. They loved it. I then sent out a mailing and conducted the new seminar.
Imagine my surprise when I realized that I had made more on that seminar than the new car cost! And all because someone dented my fender.
Emotions create Energy leading to Action
By focusing on the positive and using the Energy Redirection Technique, Burt allowed the Law of Attraction to work for him. He made the dented fender bring to his mind, not the negative feelings of loss - but the positive feeling of wanting to earn THREE times the cost of fixing that fender.
In Burt's story above - you can see how he looked at the dent, and saw something positive out of it.
He redirected his negative thoughts into positive ones, and set a goal of earning 3 times the money needed to fix the dent.
Now, of course, with the dominating thought in Burt's mind being the goal of earning money, he allowed the Law of Attraction to bring that into his reality.
The Energy Redirection Technique is really simple.
When faced with a bad situation - think of a way to turn it into a CHALLENGE.
Apply creativity to the situation and any negative event can be turned into an exciting challenge.
Now, we're not saying you need to forget or ignore the negative event. That can sometimes be very hard to do. But by finding a challenge, a goal - something that can motivate and inspire you - you now re-allocate a large chunk of your energy away from the negative thoughts.
In other words, thoughts that would otherwise be obsessed with the negative event can now be redirected and focused on something positive.
It's beautiful and so simple! Yet once you learn this, you can free yourself from the many negative thoughts that keep you trapped in present conditions.
As Burt said...after setting his goal of earning 3 times the cost of the dented fender, every time he looked at the fender, he would motivate himself by thinking "I have to earn more money". The negative thoughts, anger at the person who made the dent, frustration at having to fork out money to fix it - were all being DIFFUSED by the positive challenge.
Here are several more examples:
Bed-Ridden in Hospital: Decide that you're going to use this free time to learn something fun, say a new language. Now you're thinking about a new skill rather than focusing on your illness.
Got Laid Off: Set a goal to find a job that pays you 25% more than your previous job. Think about this new job and stop thinking about being laid off. Start job hunting. Do not hold any negative feelings towards your boss for laying you off. Instead, think of him as having done you a favor because you're now going to find a better job.
Someone Owes You Money and Refuses to Pay Up: Forgive them. As long as you hold a grudge, you're telling the Universe that you've lost money. And indeed, you'll attract the loss. Instead, set a goal to earn twice the amount of money you've lost.
Got Dumped: Decide that you'll find a new love. Someone better suited to you. Make a list of all the qualities you'd love to see in your ideal mate. Now focus on meeting this new person.
Lost a Business Due to Bankruptcy: Decide that you're going to rebuild a new business and regain your financial freedom. Set a goal to earn 3 times what you previously had. Bonus Points: Decide that you're going to earn so much more than you'll be able to repay all your debts - even though you legally may not have to.

The Law of Attraction and Facing Responsibility For Who and Where You Are Today


In Lesson 1

we explained that you are more than just a piece of organic matter. Your very essence is one of a spiritual nature - with the ability to attract into your life that which you focus your attention on.
The problem is this...
Very few human beings realize the latent potential they have to alter their own lives. They walk in blindness, complaining about outside forces - debt, bad relationships, lack of opportunity - while remaining clueless to the power they already possess, the power that can alter their current reality.
The much-revered Indian saint, Vivekananda, who lived over 100 years ago - explained it beautifully...
You are DIVINE. This is the core message in Vivekananda's words.
So the Big Question is:
How Then, Do We Begin to Get Ourselves Out of Our Current Situation and Claim the Abundance We Seek?
The Law of Attraction

We all work with one infinite power. We all guide ourselves by exactly the same laws. The natural laws of The Universe are so precise that we don't even have any difficulty building spaceships; we can send people to the moon, and we can time the landing with the precision of a fraction of a second.
Wherever you are - India, Australia, New Zealand, Stockholm, London, Toronto, Montreal, or New York - we're all working with one power. One law. It's the Law of Attraction!
The Secret is The Law of Attraction!
Everything that's coming into your life, you are attracting into your life. And it's attracted by virtue of the images you're holding in your mind. It's what you're thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind, you are attracting to you.
To understand the Law of Attraction, let’s first understand its underlying counterpart, The Law of Vibration. The Law of Vibration states that EVERYTHING vibrates (everything moves). Everything ever created – from the smallest atomic particle to the largest skyscraper – is in a constant state of energetic motion. What looks solid is not. Even concrete, glass and steel is energy in constant motion.
We live in an ocean of motion!
What this lesson teaches us is that you have a power within you that is far superior to any circumstance or situation around you – you have free will over what you want to think. And these are the very thoughts that are in charge of directing power to whatever you choose in your lifetime.
But here is the thing you need to understand...
Unconscious Attraction and Conscious Attraction
Whatever you think about, whether it's good or bad - you attract into your life.
Whether you want it or not is irrevelant - think about something you DON'T WANT and you attract it into your life.
Unconscious attraction is what happens when we let our uncontrolled thoughts run free.
Worry about getting out of debt - and that's what you attract - MORE debt.
Worry about getting old - and you'll start experiencing the effects of old age.
Worry about whether or not he or she loves you - and you attract uncertainty into your relationships.
Every worry just serves to bring to your reality that which you think about.
Worry and you'll be sorry.
Now, this may sound scary...the idea that every unconscious thought you have attracts that which you think of into your life.
But don't worry...because the reverse also happens.
Every happy, joyful thought is also attracting into your life the positive thing you're thinking about.
Now here's the best part. There's a simple formula we want you to understand:

What this formula means is that your thoughts, magnified by the EMOTIONS behind your thoughts, equal the things that you attract into your life.
Emotions are powerful. Thinking about a goal that you're only half-excited about is not going to help you manifest that goal too fast. But think about a goal that really makes you excited...makes you weep with joy because the excitement of attaining it is so wonderful - NOW you're adding power to your thoughts and really using the Law of Attraction.
If your thoughts are a vehicle to move you towards your goal - your emotions are the fuel that power this vehicle.
So the good news is that your positive thoughts, because they excite you so much more and often have much more emotions attached to them - tend to be a lot more powerful than your negative thoughts.
It is easier to attract the good than to attract the bad.
Accept Responsibility for Where You Are Today...Or You'll Be Powerless to Change
If the Law of Attraction is as simple as that, why aren’t more people wealthy, even gratified about the state their lives are in?
Well, most people don’t take personal responsibility for their present results. They honestly believe the cause of their current results lies outside of themselves, due to conditions or circumstances they have no control over.
Most people are ignorant of the Law: You attract into your life everything that is in harmonious vibration to you.
The key to mastering the Law of Attraction is to understand that you are responsible for everything in your life. EVERYTHING. At some level - consciously or unconsciously, you attracted every person, every job, every idea, every illness, every joy and every bit of pain into your life.
This leads to some interesting questions...do communities that are victims of crime waves or war attract these things into their lives? The answer is YES - but we'll discuss that in more detail in lesson 3 when we talk about "Group Manifestation"
Once you Accept that You are the Maker of Your Own Reality, You Will See that You Have the Power to Change That Reality into Anything You Wish
We generally let our outside world control our inside world. We have to reverse this. Our thoughts dictate what we attract! We’ve got to let the inside world take charge of our outside world!

How to Use the Law of Attraction in Your Favor:
Let's take a good look at your results in your life. As you read these questions, make a mental note of the answers in your mind:
What kind of relationships do you have?
Are you in love?
What are your friends like?
How do you communicate with family members?
What is your income?
What is your business like?
How about the health of your body?
What do you THINK of your body?
The thoughts you just thought . . . the answers that surfaced before you could stop them . . . are responsible for programming your current results!
If you don't like the results in your life, you need to change your thoughts. That's ALL that the Law of Attraction is about.
This is an orderly universe. Nothing happens by accident. The images you plant in your marvelous mind instantly set up an attractive force, which govern your results in life.
You are a living, breathing magnet. As you read this article.... Things ... Conditions ... Circumstances and People you know – and even some you don’t know – are marching to you like obedient soldiers to aid in the manifestation of your images. Wouldn’t you prefer those soliders helping you with your positive images?

Take a few moments each day to monitor what is going on in your mind ... What are you thinking about? How are you feeling? If you’re not feeling the way you want to feel, begin, instead, to visualize what you want rather than what you don’t want. Your vibration will instantly change. And when your vibration changes, your results follow that upward flow.
Your circumstances right now are ONLY your current reality. And current reality CAN CHANGE.
Getting Out of the Current Reality Trap
We tend to spend an overwhelming amount of attention on our current situation. We think about things the way they ARE - rather than the way they SHOULD BE. Because our dominant thoughts are on our current situation - these thoughts tend to be about daily worries, current lifestyle, how much money we currently have, the state of our current relationship, and so on. These mediocre, passive thoughts do nothing for us!
All these thoughts do is simply keep in our lives our daily worries, current financial situations and current relationships. This is why CHANGE comes SLOWLY for most of us. We get obsessed with the way things ARE rather than the way things COULD be.
And so we remain "stuck" in our lives - year after year - observing the same things.
No growth, no abundance, no new wonderful discoveries or ideas - nothing. This is called the Current Reality Trap.
The sad thing is, , it does not have to be this way. You do not have to stay stuck in mediocrity. We are powerful, amazing beings - but sadly, many of us do not realize our own beautiful potential.
This is the difference between mediocre people and successful people. Mediocre people dwell on the present. Successful people look excitedly to what COULD be.
We've all heard of millionaires who suddenly went broke and lost everything. The amazing thing about these people is that they usually, with remarkable ease, gain back their wealth. This is because while their physical wealth may have been lost through bankruptcy or bad investments - their mindset - their INNER wealth - is focused on riches. And so riches pour back to them quickly. It's the Law of Attraction at work.
A Simple Technique to Begin Escaping the Current Reality Trap
We want to share with you a simple exercise you can do to help correct your thoughts and move you towards more abundance.
Jane earns a decent income - but she's not happy. She still has car payments, she wants to send her kids to a better school, she needs to save up for her graduate level education. But no matter how hard she works, she just never has enough. And to top it off - she owes the credit card companies tons of money.
Odds are - you know someone like Jane.
Most of us in Jane's situation will start to focus on what we DON'T have. But the problem is, when you fuss and complain about not having enough - you attract more bills to pay.
Jane might set a goal to get out of debt. This, too, is the wrong approach ...the goal of getting out of DEBT - keeps you forever in DEBT. You're thinking debt, debt, debt - and that's exactly what you attract into your life.
This is how Jane would change her mindset once she attains mastery of the Law of Attraction.
First she would change her goal. Her goal would no longer be "get out of debt." Her goal would be "absolute financial freedom." Now she's focusing on a positive. She would spend a few minutes every morning just day-dreaming about what she's going to do once she attains financial freedom.
The next thing Jane would do is auto-correct her negative thoughts. Her initial thought might be:
I'm so badly in debt - I don't know what to do.
I don't have enough to get the things I seek in life for myself and my family.
Slowly, she'd start correcting these thoughts:
I have a home, my kids are happy. I have a loving family.
I have a nice job with an opportunity for a raise.
I am healthy.
I shouldn't feel so bad - many people don't have a house or a loving family.
My debt will be paid off - when I start saving just a little bit every month.
There are people far worse off than I - 1 billion people worldwide have to survive on less than a dollar a day.
I'm grateful that I have a job and a middle-income lifestyle.
I like the idea of being rich.
I'm grateful that I have a car, nice clothes, can eat 3 meals a day, and can take the occasional vacation - most people cannot afford this.
I can believe that more money and multiple streams of income will open up to me in the near future.
So, by gradually changing her view of her circumstances, Jane corrects herself from negative thinking to positive thinking.
Slowly, her thoughts and dreams get bolder:
I believe my talents will help me earn more income soon.
I will soon have a business for myself.
I can see myself owning a 6-bedroom home by 2012.
I will have one million in the bank within 5 years.
Jane has started shifting into a mindset that lets the Law of Attraction flow freely in her favor - rather than against her.
Notice that her thoughts essentially shift from:
I'm so badly in debt - I don't know what to do.to:
I will have one million in the bank within 5 years.
It's a gradual shift, with small incremental boosts in your self-belief. But once you get started, you'll notice that the positive thoughts begin to come faster and easier as you go along.
Tiny concidences will begin to happen. Maybe Jane will get a small raise, or she'll learn a way to control her debt from a chance meeting with a financial advisor. New ideas and opportunities will start flowing her way - this stream of coincidences are The Law of Attraction at work.
Watch out for them, embrace them and follow them - these tiny signs from the Universe will help give you the motivation and belief to keep moving towards greater and greater things.
The current results you have in your life are based on your current belief. Your present income is based on your belief of what you’re capable of earning. As you go through this program, you are going to re-evaluate what you see as truth … what you believe. When you re-evaluate a situation, you will find that your results will change.

Creativity

I have often wondered why most companies have a creative department with a limited number of people, usually a very small percentage of the people which are on the payroll.
Every department in a company is a creative department as long as the department has people in it. All people are creative. Creativity has its root in the creator which is within each of us. As you permit the higher side of your nature to express itself in a greater way for good in your life, you are being creative.
There are an enormous number of people who deprive themselves of many of the joys life offers because they believe they are not creative.
"Musicians are creative, writers, artists and designers are creative but I'm not."
You should realize there are creative auto-mechanics, carpenters, secretaries and warehouse people. There are lawyers, accountants and dentists who are creative.
Creativity has absolutely nothing to do with what you do but it has everything to do with how you do it. William James said, "Creativity is the ability to think in unhabitual ways."
Pay particular attention today to the various people you come in contact with. Observe closely how these people apply themselves to their jobs.
Some will be an absolute symphony in every move they make. It will be obvious they have given creative thought to their work while others move in a very mechanical way. If they are asked to do anything which may be out of the norm you may very well hear the reply, "I'm sorry, that is not my job." There are definite self-imposed limitations to their activity.
They have never learned that they are a truly dynamic being with limitless creative potential in every fiber of their being. Nor have they learned that this creative potential is awaiting recognition from them.
You have the opportunity to express your creativity staring you in the face every minute. If you haven't begun to express it, do so today.
